Low-Lives & High-Fives

I could barely write a grocery list, let alone a weblog.

So JB goes to my school now. Crazy, I haven’t seen him in almost 3 years. Hannah U gave me some metal fingerpicks and a plastic thumb pick so I can practice more banjo now. Sweet. She’s a really good banjo player. Greg’s trying to buy all of my stuff. I sold him my harmonica + harmonica stand for $8.

I’ve been looking around for a Clyde Drexler jersey recently. I had one when I was about 6. That was 1996 when the Rockets were one of the best teams on the NBA. If I’m lucky I can find a 1994-1995 Drexler jersey from the Rockets or maybe a Drexler Trailblazers jersey.

School sucks. It gets worse every day. Humanities is horrible. English is horrible. Physics is fun but I still have a C. Precal/trigonometry is going surprisngly well. Lunch gets harder to eat and nights get harder to sleep.

Dr Pepper’s a pretty good drink. Maybe it’s the greatest drink on the market today. Whataburger is also a great restaurant to eat a burger from. Dr Pepper and Whataburger make a great combination.

Man things are strange and English is a horrible class. After a student [and my friend] in the class brought up an intellectual point in The Iliad, my teacher dismissed it and childishly accused him of looking it up on SparkNotes even though he never looked at SparkNotes in his life and had the points highlighted in the book right in front of him. It was disgusting. It would probably just seem like a small thing to a lot of people but I thought it was really offensive.

I had a dream the other night and I guess I’m gonna study Information and Library Sciences to become an archivist now. What a horrible career choice.

1. When you realize that you need to hire an attorney, it is always best to keep a record of events, and it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. You can even grab a calendar to jot down short notes as the case progress.

2. Keep track of when the event happened and talk to more than one attorney before deciding who to hire, even if you feel great about the first attorney with whom you speak.

3. Make notes of when phone calls are made to the attorney and keep track of how long it takes for the attorney to return your phone calls.

4. When questions do arise, make a list of all the questions you have so when you do talk to the attorney, you can more easily make sure all of your questions have been addressed in one phone call and without necessitating a return call; thus, reducing attorney time being billed to you.

5. If an attorney tells you something is going to happen in your case, for example, in 30 days and then 45 days passes with no word from the attorney, address the issue immediately just to make sure no important deadline is missed which could have a negative result or impact upon your case.

6. If calls are not returned timely or deadlines start being missed, address these concerns in writing via certified mail before problems are created that may be difficult or impossible to fix later. Missed deadlines or failures to timely return telephone calls are oversights that can be red flags.

7. Whenever any red flags are noticed, always address these in writing via certified mail and give the attorney a time frame, such as a week or 10 days to respond. If you aren’t satisfied with the attorney’s response to your concerns and questions, do not hesitate to consider if this attorney is doing a good job for you or do you need to terminate the services in order to hire an attorney who has the time and experience necessary to handle your particular case.

8. If you do have to terminate your attorney’s services, this should also be done by certified mail with the reasons clearly stated for the termination. Be sure to ask for your file, an itemized billing statement for all services rendered, and a refund if you feel the attorney has been overpaid.

I guess I should be used to waking up and seeing Zoe in my room, for some reason, by now.
